Noto, Sam

A sculptor from Silver Spring, MD. He has his MFA from the University of Maryland. He sculpts with every material imaginable: steel, conduit, stone, aluminum, rubber, hide, marble etc… He is a true craftsman and engineer when it comes to his work. He self teaches himself how to work with many materials and figures out how to engineer devices to secure them into the ground or suspend them from the ceiling. Noto’s sculpts for both the indoors and outdoors. In his back yard, he has an expansive garden of his sculptures. Many of his works have a kinetic element. Noto has completed several public commissions. His work can be seen at the School of Art and Design at UMD (where he also teaches), Brookside Gardens, Bowie State University, Montpelier Arts Center and the Greater Reston Arts Center. He has exhibited internationally in India and Singapore. He has recieved many art and professional achievement awards.
