Peter Max
Peter Max (born 1937) is a German-born American artist
best known for his iconic art style in the 1960s. He was one of the leading Pop
Art figures. Max exemplifies a style where fine art, graphic design and advertising
collide. Patriotism, environmentalism and world peace are common themes in his
work.
Peace on Earth, 2001 and God Bless America,
2001 are part of a three-piece suite
released after 9/11. The Statue of Liberty, a reoccurring image in Max’s work,
is surrounded by bright colors and gestural acrylic brushstrokes. These works
are one-of-a-kind lithographs with acrylic painting.
