From Philadelphia,
PA, Natalie is a recent graduate from the Corcoran College of Art
+ Design with a BFA in Fine Art Photography. "Facsimile" at The
GTC is Natalie's second solo show in 2009. Her first show was "Intermediaries" at
The Athenaeum in Alexandria, VA last spring. Her show consists of
7 chemigrams. These are made using only basic black and white darkroom
paper, chemistry and light. The image is produced by pouring the chemistry
directly onto photographic paper and reacting with light. The titles
of the works make reference to details of art historically important
works by artists such as J.M.W. Turner and Gerhard Richter. The concept
explores the relationship between physical events and reactions that
happen in the past but are noted and appreciated in the present. Cheung is the Fall 2009 featured artist in Washington Spaces.
